How to Deal with Haters and Doubters
It doesn’t matter what aspect of your life you are referring to – haters and doubters are always present. So how to deal with haters? They can appear at school, telling you that you don’t fit in, that you are weird, or that you are never going to amount to anything worthwhile. As an adult, haters and doubters are hovering around the corner in every workplace, waiting to let you know your ideas are awful and that you just wouldn’t be able to handle a promotion if you try.
The worst part is that these haters and doubters can appear anywhere and try to damage anyone. It doesn’t matter what your age, sex, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. There will always be someone just waiting to drag you down. The sooner you learn this, the easier it is to dismiss them from your life.
How to deal with haters?
If you are ready to focus on the positives in life and overcome the negativity that comes with doubters and haters, then you need to try at least one of these steps:
- Focus on positive affirmations. Find yourself some quotes, sayings, powerful words, and the like. Then, read them. Stick them on your mirror, on your door, in your car, on your laptop, as the wallpaper on your cell phone, etc. In other words, let your eyes see something positive at every turn throughout the day. Eventually so much positive will override the negative.
- Begin to learn and understand that you are the object of their focus because you are doing something right. Think about – who wants to give attention to someone who isn’t worthy? You, my friend, are very worthy. And, your haters and doubters know it.
- Let their criticism fuel your cause. Take what they say and let it motivate you. If you don’t think it will do any good, read the biographies of famous people, such as Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps, business mogul Elon Musk, singer and actress Lady Gaga, and so many others who were bullied as kids and let that fuel their growth and success.
- Finally, use hatred and negative behavior as an example of how not to be. Take time to check yourself and make sure that you aren’t to blame for doing the same thing to others. Instead, learn how to be humble and empowering to those around you. Have faith that this type of character will take you further in life – and give you a more fulfilling life – than the alternative.
It is easy to let those around us begin to affect the beliefs and opinions we hold of ourselves. Truth is, haters and doubters will never go away. People are mean and our world can be a hateful place. Knowing how to deal with the negative impact, however, is what can make the difference between living a life in submission – and living a life full of love, growth, and prosperity.
Now, go on – treat yourself and those around you with kindness, and watch the haters fall to the wayside.
